ingrid burkett

Ingrid is a trained graphic artist, but her work spans print-making, sculpture and paper cutting.  She also produces theatrical art, including masks and puppets.

Her work  continues to reflect a graphic quality and she often morphs her art work into different formats. Ingrid enjoys periods of artistic obsession, which have, over the past year, focused on birds. 

bethany lawrence

Bethany is a hobby artist who draws inspiration from nature, with a particular soft spot for Australian natives. 
Her contemporary style varies in medium, experimenting with collage, digital illustration, ink and acrylic.

peter & carol Williams

Peter and Carol are a husband and wife team who work together as glass artists, collaborating on most of their work. They are members of the Royal Queensland Art Society an have attended many courses to further their techniques in glass work.

They won first prize of Master Artisan for Traditional Stained Glass at the Medieval Masterpiece competition. They exhibit in mainly fund-raising shows around Brisbane and the Moreton Bay Region.

Peter and Carol's work has been purchased for export to Japan, Portugal, New Zealand, USA and England

Patrick boddington

Pat was educated at Coventry College of Art, England.  He subsequently became an electronics engineer and came to Australia in 1969 to take up a position of lecturer at the Queensland Institute of Technology (now a university). 

After 23 years at the university, he decided to take early retirement to become a full time artist.  His work is on display in his studio at Mount Glorious (open weekends). 

His work is varied and includes watercolours, acrylics, drawings and oil paintings.  Pat has won many awards including Noosa, Caloundra, Pine Rivers, Crows Nest and has been a finalist at Stanthorpe on three occasions.

deidre taylor

Deidre has taken several courses in glass fusing and slumping and dichroic jewellery making including two webinars with international glass artists Tanya Veit and Randy Wardell. These have inspired her to experiment with many different techniques.

Her work is displayed in the Slab Hut Samford, the Pine Rivers Gallery, and the Old Fire Station Gallery.

Garry rogers

Garry is a wildlife artist working in graphite, a medium which leans toward fine detail,  and occasionally charcoal. The work generally starts from life observations and photo references, and together with a bit of imagination they can take many, many hours to complete.

He is also a fine wood artist working primarily in recycled timbers. His woodwork and drawings are wholly inspired by our unique Australian fauna. It is through these photorealistic drawings and marquetry pieces that he is striving to heighten awareness of these wonderful creatures.

Garry has received awards in Samford Show, Moreton Bay Art Awards, Lethbridge 10000, QWASI International Wildlife Exhibition, Holmes Art Prize

gerry o'connor

Gerry has a three-year Tafe Certificate in Studio Ceramics, and has specialised in Raku pottery for more than 25 years. Since Raku became popular among Western potters  sixty years ago its scope has been broadened to  include sculpture and  brilliant glaze colour.  He has worked with several Melbourne potters who specialise in glaze and firing technology to solve colour problems in Raku glazes and to refine Raku firing techniques.

For Gerry, Raku also has a deep philosophical base in Zen, which he finds compelling and which influences his work. Zen stresses spontaneity, simplicity and the aesthetics of irregularity and asymmetry as found in nature, as opposed to the aesthetics of balance and regularity as found in most western art. Western Raku is also influenced by Abstract Expressionism, which teaches that an artwork is the product of the individual, the process and the material, not just the product of the dominating will of the artist.

Gerry has exhibited regularly in Australia since 1990, and his work was included in several shows in Italy in 1996. His Raku is in private collections in Australia and in many overseas countries.

Gerry has written a play that has been performed professionally, and is also a photographer. Two of his  photographic  portrait exhibitions have been acquired by the Queensland State Library.

Ann O'Connor

Ann has been an artist for over 45years in different fields, painting, etching, ceramics, silver smithing but for the last 25 years she has been a full time  artist here on Mt Glorious working in ceramics and silver. She majored in Art at Central QLD University in a teaching diploma, completed a 3 year certificate in ceramics at TAFE and studied painting with the Flying Art School for 10 years .
Ann has been Involved in solo and group exhibitions yearly since 1989. She has also exhibited overseas in Italy and Norway. Her work is represented in the public collections of Moreton Bay Regional Council, Toowoomba Regional Gallery(Crows Nest), Central Queensland University, John Paul College and in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, England, France,Japan, Norway, Italy, USA. Over the years Ann has won many awards, eleven awards in the Moreton Bay Art Awards, John Paul College Ceramic Art Awards, Australian Craft Show Sculpture Award in Brisbane, Society of Sculptors Ceramic Sculpture Award, Crows Nest Regional Art Award for Sculpture, Goldsmiths' School Jewellery Design Award.

denise reichenbach

Born in East Germany prior to the Berlin Wall’s collapse, Denise Reichenbach brings a particular artistic sensibility to her work. A hybrid form of painting, drawing, collage and sculpture, her work swings between abstract and figurative composition, dealing with the complexity of human relationships. She incorporates strong references to her German background in history and art, but makes room for intuitive exploration through the conscious deskilling of her painterly technique.
 
With unbridled emotion never far from the surface, her work is a very raw exploration of what is hers and what isn’t in the world, seeking authenticity without being influenced by thoughts of success or outcome.  
 
In a career spanning over a decade, Reichenbach has exhibited widely, and taken part in several residences throughout Europe and Australia. Since emigrating to Australia in 2008, she has been a finalist in the Queensland Figurative Award, the Bayton Award, the Emerald Art Prize, the Martin Hanson Memorial Award, the D1 Kunstsalon in Leipzig/Germany and the Lethbridge Small Scale Award.  In 2012, Reichenbach was the recipient of a Highly Commended Award at the Brigalow Art Festival in Biloela. With her latest body of work, being a combination of both Australian and European influences, the artist incorporated a strong colour theme with figurative elements, culminating in her recent solo show at Galerie Potemka in Leipzig, Germany.
Currently living and working in Brisbane, she has studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, the National Art School in Sydney and at the Queensland College of Art (QCA).

Shavarnia Williams

Shavarnia is a multi-award winning artist of many years.  Her work is inspired by nature in the form of micro, macro, aerial and satellite.  Her observation of the world from these perspectives inspires her through the intricacies, beauty and perfection she finds within all things. 
 
Her focus and use of fragmental vision offers a surprising yet deeply understood view of the ordinary.  She predominantly works in acrylics, crayons and inks.   Her work can also include found objects, luscious papers and gold leaf creating an atmosphere that has a penetrating and alluring quality.

ganis family

The Ganis family - Venus and her daughters Ria and Cleo - are a family of ceramic artists working from their Mt Glorious studio as Leaf and Co.

They have been creating artworks together for a year now and are
producing functional art, i.e. art with a use in daily living.

As a collective,they have been inspired by the natural surroundings of Mt Glorious and have based their artworks on elements of nature. All their ceramic pieces have been hand made, hand pressed, and hand glazed.
These ceramics have been made using earthenware clay and
the under glaze and top glaze is lead-free and food-safe.

karen hutt

Karen is a vet with a passion for photography, writing, and the natural world. 
Taking inspiration from the breathtaking beauty of nature, Karen is particularly intrigued by details, texture and movement, which she explores with macro and abstract photography. Karen also works part-time as a freelance gig and socials photographer, and reviewer, covering classical concerts, and festivals such as Woodford, Bluesfest, and Splendour. 
 
Karen photographs have appeared in The Australian newspaper, Musica Viva literature and website, Scenestr magazine and website, Limelight Magazine, ClassikON, and Indulge magazine, and on the cover of Your Time magazine. Karen has won a number of awards for her photography, including first place in the Nobivac Human-Animal Bond competition in 2013, first place in the Henry Schein-Provet competition in 2015, and Reserve Champion trophy in photography at the Samford show in 2015. Karen was also was a finalist in the World Parks Congress ‘Saved’ photography competition, held in Sydney to coincide with that international event in 2014.

robyn powles

Robyn's art reflects her desire for simplicity and she is constantly seeking ways to bring this to the viewer’s eye, even if the actual artistic process is often far more complicated.
 
She is currently working primarily in watercolour, pencil  ink and acrylics.
 
Robyn keeps her artist skills up to date by undertaking biannual workshops at Charles Sturt University NSW, with world renowned artists such as Joseph Zbukvic, David Taylor and Cherry Hood, and Linda Weil.
She also attends many Brisbane-based workshops to increase her proficiency within various media.
 
Her work has been recently exhibited at the Percolator Gallery in Paddington, and  has been shown in both private and public spaces throughout Brisbane, Moreton Bay, and South Burnett Regions.

jean-cesar puechmarin

Cesar is a wildlife photographer, filmmaker and Veterinary Student. His wildlife photography arose as a by-product of countless hours spent in the forest, observing critters such as fungi, frogs and birds.

Cesar is also an award winning wildlife-filmmaker, with his environmentally driven films being officially selected in film festivals around the world, (although he admits to preferring a pair of binoculars over a camera, with most adventures ending "photo-free").

Often spending several days or nights on the mountain each week, he and his wife eventually followed their dream of living amongst the rainforest birds of Mount Glorious. 

Vanessa bliss

Vanessa is a Brisbane born artist living and working in Brisbane.(Mt Nebo)
Vanessa’s years of study at Griffith University (Queensland College of Art) have provided her with successful standing in the art industry with work on tour throughout Regional Queensland and Australia.  Vanessa has specialised in printmaking and painting.
 
This year has been a different approach with Vanessa experimenting with ceramics and Lino printing into clay. This process has enabled  Vanessa to develop her new range of ceramic jewellery objects.  Her bold colours and love for colour has created a vibrant ceramic exhibition.  Her exhibition history is varied, having been represented on the Sunshine Coast and sought after by many private collectors within Brisbane, Sydney and Europe.  Vanessa’s works are described as “intimate places within a Contemporary Australian Landscape”.

john ganis

John works in acrylic and mixed media. He has explored both portraiture and landscape painting. His paintings for this year's exhibition reflect the ever-changing landscape of Mount Glorious.

John has exhibited throughout the Moreton Bay region and extends his skills by attending masterclasses with established artists.

michele hobart

Michele uses a variety of styles, and mediums such as 
Pastel, Ink, Watercolour, Acrylics and Oil. 
Inspired by Mountain living the subjects are usually the 
birds, animals, plants and the forest.  
Having had past Picture Framing experience, 
many of the works incorporate the Frame as part of the painting. 

Barbara Gonda

Barb continues to play with multiple mediums. Her greatest love is creating texture and movement in her work. More recently she has begun to work in pen (Homemade) and ink; encaustic applications and as always with glass. Barb continues to aspire to creating something she has never expected.

Mary Ganis

Mary is an architect with an interest in graphics and design. She attended Seven hills College of Art.

Glass has been a lifelong fascination for me and continues to intrigue with its versatility whether decorative or functional, it’s range of colour and style and it’s transparency. 
I also use it sculpturally within assembled pieces often based on ‘treasures from the tip’.I love the playfulness in both the making and hopefully viewing of these pieces which allow the use of a variety of media.   They are designed to appeal to the child in all of us.
